Prevent the installation of spyware and other potentially unwanted software! Simple, effective, trusted.

Why SpywareBlaster?
Spyware, adware, browser hijackers, and dialers are some of the most annoying and pervasive threats on the Internet today. By simply browsing a web page, you could find your computer to be the brand-new host of one of these unwanted fiends!

The most important step you can take is to secure your system.
And SpywareBlaster is the most powerful protection program available.

Multi-Angle Protection
• Prevent the installation of ActiveX-based spyware and other potentially unwanted programs.
• Block spying / tracking via cookies.
• Restrict the actions of potentially unwanted or dangerous web sites.
No-Nonsense Security
SpywareBlaster can help keep your system secure, without interfering with the "good side" of the web. And unlike other programs, SpywareBlaster does not have to remain running in the background. It works alongside the programs you have to help secure your system.

SpywareBlaster Supports Windows 98, ME, NT4, 2000, XP, Vista

SpywareBlaster 4.2 released April 9, 2009

QUOTE
SpywareBlaster 4.2 has been released!

Prevent the installation of spyware, malware, and other potentially unwanted software!

New in this version:
-Windows 7 support
-Internet Explorer 8 support
-K-Meleon support
-Faster, secure updating worldwide
-Automatic program version upgrade support (for AutoUpdate users)
-Numerous bug fixes, tweaks, and optimizations

This 4.2 release provides enhanced protection, performance, and bug fixes.

UPDATING OPTIONS IN SPYWAREBLASTER
SpywareBlaster still offers the built-in Check for Updates feature. This feature is completely free and allows you to keep up-to-date by clicking on a button in the SpywareBlaster interface.

SpywareBlaster also offers SpywareBlaster AutoUpdate - a brand-new updating solution. Just set it up, and AutoUpdate will check at every system boot for the latest updates and enable the newest protection (other options are available).

As much as we would like to provide auto-updating functionality for free, costs are simply too great to make it feasible. AutoUpdate functionality is $9.95 (US) per year, which helps to cover the bandwidth costs. The Check for Updates function remains completely free, as does SpywareBlaster. You only need to pay if you wish to have the extra convenience of AutoUpdate.

SpywareBlaster is freeware.

From what I can see Spyware blaster won't interfere at all, what do you think?

I use it myself and it seems to play well with others, especially since it never runs in the background (it works the same way as Spybot's Immunize feature, adding bad websites to Internet Explorer and FireFox's restricted sites lists).
mountaintree16
Thanks smile.gif

Is it friendly with Spybot do you know? I like Spybot and would like to keep it smile.gif

Yes, I've used them together for years on a number of systems and never had issues with them.
mountaintree16
Awesome, thanks biggrin.gif Easy to use?

While we are on the topic of browser protection, do you know anything about AdBlock Plus? My computer techie friend I was telling you about it recommended it to me. He told me that ads actually can have spyware in them even if you don't click on them! He said that by using this program it will block ads and therefore eliminate the problem.

I haven't gotten around to installing it yet but I plan to have a "computer day" and do computer work and such when I have a full free day at home smile.gif

SpywareBlaster has had an update as of 06/27/2009

I just decided to do a manual update and found the update.

So, if you use SpywareBlaster and don't have the update, check for it now and apply the protections smile.gif

with addblock you simply hover whatever and right click and block the prefered item.
or right click on the adblock icon and open up blockable items.

makes pages load a lot faster as most adverts take longer to load than the page.
esp usefull if pps throw in some massive pic in a thread your reading, just block it and bingo.

it doesnt blocks pre emptivly unless you install pre set filter rules.even then it may not block all you want, untill you tell it to. (or have allready added that filter) you get the chance to choose your own filter rules or pick from pre set ones when you goto install it.(you can add the he pre set rules)
i opted to choose my own filters.

imo its not really a anti malware tool.
i noticed you said you where scared to browse the net becuse off the nasties.
malware can come from anywhere see the red cross at the top the allows you to close your browser, even that can be jacked to install malware.imo as long are your setting are ok you got good proctection i.e firwall av ect you would most lighly not get infected.

also about lyrics sites youve watched a few vids i take it,i immgine you will have a lot off (super cookies) flash cookies,a decent add on to delte them as you watch them or after is better privacy.

hxxps://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/6623

dont painc about the net thou as said if your settings are good and your useing decent proctection, then youve won half the battle allreadfy if you understand.

my updates are at present up to date but showing 24-10-09 ? is it worth running this with such little updates as i have superantispyware that updates every day that i can upgrade for $9.95
mountaintree16
@ pmjg

That's the last date that Spyware Blaster had an update.

Yes, it is worth updating when they have updates available biggrin.gif Spyware Blaster takes preventative measures, working with your browser (it is not a scanner). Even though its not updated more than once a week or every other week, it still provides another great layer of protection for your computer.

Anybody seen this:

hxxp://softwareinsidersmag.com/antispyware03.php?seed=SpywareBlaster?

A silly comment about the "ineffectiveness of SpywareBlaster to remove all spyware it encounters" which, incidentally, betrays a complete lack of understanding of how it works followed by a dubious-looking performance comparison chart containing all of five highy suspect anti-spyware programs. Testimonials - yeah, right, as in validated by nobody in particular. (Yes, I know that a testi~ is not the same as a fully-fledged reference; just humour me on this occasion please guys smile.gif).
The whole "report" smells very fishy to me; it's supposed to be a "test comparison" by a company called "Software Insiders Magazine" apparently based in Oregon. Anybody heard of them?

" tongue.gif ...Wanna take bets that palms have been greased to print that?..."

Note: they said they'd tested 291 antispyware programs...and guess who came out on top?....SpyZooka huh.gif laugh.gif err...who are they?? Never heard of 'em!
No mention of MBAM anyywhere. Not even a peep! mellow.gif

Well googling "spyzooka" my WOT shows red for the top searches from a site called bluepenguinsoftware whom make it, though cnet have it on their site but the reviews for it from users are terrible, and when I click on to see all 9 user reviews cnet take me to a page for "Escape 2 Paradise 1.0 User Reviews " huh.gif

Have fun with them blue penguins in paradise then. chimpy laugh.gif

Try a cut an' paste of the url in your browser replacing the double Xs with the usual "tt" and see what you get.

I would not believe a thing from Software Insiders Magazine:

http://hosts-file.net/default.asp?s=www.ma...eremovalbot.com
http://hosts-file.net/default.asp?s=antispywarebot.com

adwarealert.com and antispyware.com as well.

Marcus from WOT I get this "hxxp://www.mywot.com/en/scorecard/softwareinsidersmag.com red, not good at all!
