Full Version: MBAM Certificate Prompts Windows 7 UAC

I'm running Windows 7 Professional 64-bit with User Account Control at the second lowest setting. I'm trying to avoid going Vista on it and just turning it off.

On every startup, UAC prompts to allow MBAM to make changes on this computer. It appears to be a certificate problem, here's a screenshot:

Once I agree, it is fine until I restart. Not a big deal, but worth mentioning.

Thanks,
Dan

Greetings smile.gif .

This is a known issue with Malwarebytes' not correctly removing its cleanup entry after it has been processed. It will be corrected in version 1.42 when it's released. For now you can download, unzip and execute the reg file attached to this post then reboot your PC and the issue should be corrected.

Please let me know how it goes.

Thanks smile.gif

That actually had no effect. Merged in to the registry correctly, but the I get the same error.

Please make sure you run it with administrator privileges.

Please refer to this pinned topic and download the startup_fix_64.zip file and use it instead since you are running a 64 bit version of Windows 7.

Post back if you have any more issues.

the registry fixes had no impact on my startup UAC prompt

"mbamgui.exe /starttray"

There should not be a UAC prompt for mbamgui.exe as it runs as a limited user, and does not require admin rights.

Of course there will be or should be a UAC prompt when ANY limited user attempts to run a script that will clean up protected folders

IN X64 W7 all program files/program data and system32 as well as X86 versions of those folders should ALWAYS alert with a UAC prompt when any program attempts to alter anything in there

That has been one of the biggest criticisms of W7 that it doesn't always alert when a program tries to do it

It isn't the certificate in question here but the clean up script being set to run at start up or reboot that triggers a UAC prompt

removing the start up entry by using the reg file from http://www.malwarebytes.org/forums/index.php?showtopic=29158 should stop it happening, until nest tiem mBAM is run & finds something to fix

ah, woops, that was my fault

By the way, the 64-bit registry patch worked perfectly for me. Sorry I forgot to post that earlier. *slaps own hand*

Yes, but there should never be one on mbamgui.exe... It doesn't need admin rights for anything...
