Windows 7 Upgrade Advisor

Brief Description
Download and run the Windows 7 Upgrade Advisor to see if your PC is ready for Windows 7. It scans your hardware, devices, and installed programs for known compatibility issues, gives you guidance on how to resolve potential issues found, and recommends what to do before you upgrade.

Its a good post YoKenny1... just when I was going to build a tower with vista! Everyone is jumping up n' down about Win 7...

I used the beta release of the advisor and found that my XP Pro system was in the 3. If your PC isn't up to snuff, fuhgeddaboutit! category so I saved up my money and went to my local PC store that I deal with last March and they built the system I'm running Windows 7 on now.

I'll save up some money and take it back there to get the OEM build put on as its much cheaper.
I think I'll get an additional hard drive put in as well to have my data backed up on it before they do the upgrade as I want a clean install.
I have until next March to do the update as this Evaluation copy. Build 7100 will work till them.

me too! unsure.gif remember the auto business. you don't sell a guy a car every year. You sell him 3 cars over a period of 15 years! how does that apply to ms.... think about it...

edit had a worng no.
YoKenny1
I don't know about cars as I have not had one in 5 years.

Windows 8 should be out around 2011 wink.gif . MS is working very diligently to get back to making a new Windows client release every 2 years as it had been in the past smile.gif . XP was around much longer than planned because of all the work that went into SP2 which was a major overhaul to close up some serious security holes, adding the Security Center and vastly enhancing the Windows Firewall. That's part of the reason Vista took so long, but not the only reason. MS also didn't have a clear path for development and tried to do too much at once. They're much more organized now.

2011 you say, thats not too bad then, I only got vista 2 years ago so no hurry to upgrade as I was thinking about it, might even leave it till win9 if MS do not abandon it!

Remember Moore's law:

I think a financial colapse helped motivate Microsoft as people become more concerned with food and accomodation costs than new things and won't buy something new unless they really need it.

MS plans to support Vista until 2012 at least. I don't think their global plans will be affected by financial issues of individuals since they sell more licenses and make more money off of businesses than anyone else. Of course, if businesses won't buy it, at least within a year or two of its release, then MS may change their plans. But with things looking the way they are for 7, I expect business to keep upgrading as much as they always have.

I think I'll wait till Windows 7 SP2 comes out; that is if it comes out before Windows v.25 happy.gif

I wasn't planning to install W7 but I couldn't resist a very cheap offer (€18 only) and running W7 Ultimate now. So far so good.
